WEAR A PIECE OF HISTORY!

These tiles are found on the floor in front of the ruins of the Marot Ha Soulam Synagogue in Tel Aviv. A special thanks to the talented photographer Avi Levi for allowing us to share his photo!

Here is a little of the history from https://telavivfoundation.org/initiatives/marot-hasoulam-synagogue-in-neve-tzedek/
The Marot HaSoulam Synagogue was the first synagogue in Tel Aviv, built in the beginning of the twentieth century. It is located in the heart of Neve Tzedek, the first neighborhood in the city of Tel Aviv, which was established in 1887. In the past, the synagogue was central to the public life of the neighborhood. Many Neve Tzedek residents, including the neighborhood's founders, prayed there. It was also used for public gatherings and educational programs. At the synagogue’s peak, there were 20 Torah scrolls, a large library, and an extraordinarily beautiful Torah crown, among other religious artifacts. Marot HaSoulam synagogue is a unique and beautiful building, influenced by the tradition and decorative style of Eastern Europe. In fact, a documented file prepared by the Jewish Art Department of Hebrew University drew a fascinating comparison between Marot HaSoulam and various synagogues in seventeenth-century Eastern Europe, especially Poland. There are several elements that make Marot HaSoulam of great architectural and historical value, particularly the frescoes which adorned the walls. On the southern wall were paintings of musical instruments, in reference to the quote from the Book of Psalms, “Praise Him with harp and violin, praise Him with drum and dance.” There were three layers of paintings on the other walls
painted over the years. On the wooden ceiling could be found animal drawings – tiger, eagle, deer, and lion – in reference to the passage from the Mishna: “Bold as a tiger and light as an eagle, run like a deer and heroic as a lion.”

Sadly, the building deteriorated over the years and the number of worshippers dwindled. Eventually, it was deserted completely. A number of years ago, a fire engulfed the synagogue in flames, destroying the interior. The Marot HaSoulam Synagogue was the first synagogue in Tel Aviv and its design was strongly influenced by synagogues in Eastern Europe. The building is an essential part of the cultural heritage of Tel Aviv.

QUESTION: Are your tiles real antique Jewish Azulejo tiles?
ANSWER: Absolutely not. In our description of each item, we try to call attention to the theft and destruction of antique tiles. Even the tiles found in flea markets and antique stores were most likely stolen off a building during the night. We have seen entire home facades disappear during the night to thieves.
For this reason, we have no part in this despicable crime. We make our own tiles from polymer clay. Ceramic would be far too heavy for earrings and impossible to mold into the shapes we want. For the hoops, we mold the clay as thin as we can get it, so that it will look pretty inside the hoops.

These hoops are 1.75" or 4.45cm in diameter. The bottom width is 7mm.

QUESTION: What kind of metal is it?
ANSWER: SOLID STAINLESS STEEL
If it is gold tone, it has a real gold wash. It is not gold plated. Stainless steel is hypoallergenic and nickel free.

These earrings have a very thin and comfortable wire!

These hoops have a very thin and comfortable wire. They are 1.75" 0r 4.5cm and extremely lightweight. They are stainless steel, which means they are hypoallergenic and they will come in a gift box. They weigh .15oz or less than a nickel coin! Very lightweight! These earrings have a real gold wash.

All my tiles are replicas made of polymer clay where the image actually becomes part of the clay through baking. No glue is used in the process. The pieces become waterproof and scratch resistant. Due to the handmade and hand shaped nature of each tile, slight variations will occur, as no two pieces are alike.

Although the tiles are water resistant, care should be taken to keep the tiles and metal out of water and away from lotions, including cosmetics, sunscreen, hairspray, etc. The chemicals in these products will dull the finish on the tiles.
